So, I made a Bloodborn Planner

Postby Beren » Wed Apr 22, 2015 3:44 pm

Hello.

like most of you in this forum, I´m a Souls series fan.
I used to work with software development, but never web.
I didn´t find a nice planner for Bloodborne and decided to try myself.
I made a java standalone Bloodborne planner, I I´d like your opinion about it.

you must download and unrar. Should work at any system (windows, linux, mac) that have Java instaled.

It looks like this:

There´s the download link.

Thanks for your time.

I hope it helps someone.

Best regards.

Beren.

Honestly, I just never saw the point in character planners. Build 'math' is so easy that the only reason I can see anyone needing a planner is if they had no clue how the stats and mechanics work. I guess there's probably also some people that like to see def stats and what not for shits and giggles. Obviously some people do like them but I just never saw the point.

As for criticisms, I haven't ran this but from the screen shot, it looks fairly...bland. Looks like a typical Java app. Of course that doesn't speak to functionality at all but people often overlook the visual presentation on things like this. Or maybe I'm just a bit more anal about it. There's some minor spelling errors too.

If I remember correctly, one of the web based planners had a build save type of functionality for people to share their builds. That to me would be the more useful feature in a character planner. Obviously, people like sharing their 'builds'. Even in a game like this where the optimal PvP builds will be pretty cookie cutter, I'm sure there'll still be people that want to share PvE builds or whatever they want. Of course, it kind of have to be a web based planner to implement that easily.
