Funny glitch against gascoigne

So i started my sl4 runthrough and was having a little difficulty at first against gascoin. More so than usual. Then this happened

I was quite surprised it happened to be honest. Not seen it before but i hear of people fighting him on the stairs often however this was the very first time ive been backed up that far back. Shame, i was enjoying this fight. He hadnt given me such grief since the first couple of bouts on my first character
