Havel the Rock not in the game?

Havel the Rock not in the game?

Hey there,

I noticed that everyone seems to suggest that the enemy NPCin the Undead Burg tower is Havel the Rock. But the description of Havel's Ring reads

"This ring was named after Havel the Rock,
Lord Gwyn's old battlefield compatriot.

Havel's men wore the ring to express faith in
their leader and to carry a heavier load."

while the descriptions of Havel's set tells you

"*** worn by Havel the Rock's warriors.
Carved from solid rock, its tremendous weight
is matched only by the defense it provides.

Havel's warriors never flinched nor retreated
from battle. Those unfortunate enough to face
them were inevitably beaten to a pulp."

So my guess is that this enemy NPC in fact only is one of Havel's warriors. What do you guys think?

That's a perfectly acceptable interpretation, however, the watch tower basement key implies it might actually be Havel:

"The basement of the watchtower forms a stone cell. There are rumors of a hero turned hollow who was locked away by a dear friend. For his own good, of course."

To be called a hero and being merely a follower of Havel seems odd, however, the ring is in contradiction to this. Unless Havel worn such ring himself, and why not? His armor is very heavy after all.
