Hey guys! Thanks to NamcoBandai I was able to receive a copy of Dark Souls 2 a wee bit early to help start populating the Wikidot if I can. I was also given specific permission to do a little unboxing for you. :] I know that you have probably all seen them from IGN but maybe you'd rather see one from one of the every day joes like you!

DkS had a crappy manual.
DkS2 has no manual.

A lot of games are steering away from manuals now. Making then either downloadable or just telling you how to play early on. Dark souls 2 has a system that shows you how to play right off the bat. Just like the original games. So they probably just decided a manual wasn't worth it.

I don't like it , it's just a way to force to a digital-only method. Noone would want a plastic DVD case with a 2-pages manual , people will be more easily convinced to go digital-download at the same - or more! - price.
I miss the days when games came with all sorts of goodies inside the box...

heh, just received my EU Black Armor PS3 edition, there is a manual. Total page count is 38 but only around 25 pages have game info.
