All,

UPDATE: The formula is based only on the host, not both characters. If you are within range of the host, then they can summon you, regardless of what you range is.

I got tired of trying to figure out the soul level range I can group with, so I wrote a quick PHP script to calculate this based on the soul level you input. You must enter all party members soul levels, and all party members calculated range must meet the soul levels of everyone else. For example, a soul level 100 and a soul level 80 want to play together. If you input the level 100 player his/her range is 80 to 120. However, if you input the level 80 it will show a range of 62 to 98. Therefore, a level 80 player cannot play with a level 100. I am trying, (in all that spare time I have between family, a full time job, and a full time hobby) to figure out a formula that would actually calculate this correctly. Since a 100 and an 80 cannot actually play together, than the true range is not 80 to 120. At first blush it would look like you just take 2 off each end of the range, but when you plug in soul level 200 it jumps up to 3 from each end. I'll figure it out, but it is usable right now. Hope you enjoy, and if you have any issues with it, let me know.

the lower range is calculated as follows:

(SL/10 + 10)*0.9

for example:

if SL=100 then

100/10 = 10 + 10 = 20 * 0.9 = 18

so SL 100 can play with 100 - 18 = 82 at lower range

11 shouldn't be able to coop with 23, but 12 should

The only time this formula might not work is when invading as I've seen some strange combinations. For example I've invaded 120 with 97 and 135 with 108 so there might be a different formula for black stone invasions.

The formula was off. I fixed it, and thanks to EWGF for his assistance on this. The page has been updated. Also, please note that the formula always applies to the host, who is always the one in body form. So, if you are invading then you have to use the person you are invading soul level.

Before I use :

Code: Select all
100/10 = 10 + 10 = 20 * 0.9 = 18

I want to see it tested. All reports I have say it is

Code: Select all
FLOOR( (HSL +/- (HSL * 0.1) + 10) ) where HSL = Host Sould Level

So, someone grab a level 100 and a level 75. Level the 75 up one level at a time until the 100 can summon and we can see what the low end is for certain. Start with a 75 in case the lower end extends farther than we think.

I'm close to SL 75 on my Dragonman build. On the other side, I have a SL98. So either one would work fine for me for testing. NA version only.

If you are using the original formula you listed:
FLOOR( (HSL +/- (HSL * 0.1) + 10) ) where HSL = Host Soul Level

You need some adjustments as it gives an incorrect answer when SL is an odd number. Check lower range for 120 and 121.

Use FLOOR() for HSL*0.1 and not for the whole result.

For lower range use:

HSL - (FLOOR (HSL*0.1)+10)

for upper range use:

HSL + (FLOOR (HSL*0.1)+10)

Hope this helps, and keep up the good work.

Invading works differently. An invader can ONLY invade someone that is a higher level than himself.
<IRC User> I wonder how long you'll last in this community Berto.
