Sorry to hear... if something changes last minute and you might be able to join, just show up that night! This won't be the last tourny anyway... :)

Ein_Death wrote:why ban spiked shield but not nr

I really don't understand the attention NR is getting nowadays. Sure, it's a powerful weapon, personally I don't really like it myself, yet it's not that overpowered or different. A cursed or lit claymore will do about the same damage, if not more. All the time I was playing, I can only think of one tourny, where the winner used NR and it wouldn't have changed things if he had used a fatal *insert weapon here*...

Spiked shield is ok in matches with very little delay, but 9 of 10 times I was facing it (on NA server), it was annoying as hell, since the hitbox is somewhat weird and gets awful phantom range with increasing delay/lag. Add a cloud and clever rat's ring and it's an awfully annoying match IMHO.

i still dont understand why spiked isn't allowed and why nr is, nr is ridiculous and spiked is annoying but beatable

If NR is ridiculous, then half of the top tier weapons are. Your post is suggesting that NR isn't beatable. If you really think so, use NR yourself.

Spiked shield, as mentioned before, is one of the weapons with the worst phantom range / weirdest hitboxes in the game (at least from my POV). Another thing is, that it changes the fights dynamics into an "evade and fish for backstabs" gameplay, which I don't really like to see in a tournament.

NR isn't banned, because it is a weapon that is more or less the same than any other top tier weapon.
Spiked is banned for technical/mechanics-related reasons.

I hope this is explanation enough, as I don't want to turn this thread into an NR discussion. (Although I'd be interested in hearing everyone's opinion on the subject in a new, seperate thread)

Were you planning on using spiked shield?

Spikey banned because it's trolly and makes tourneys last too long but anyways....
Can we get some pvp going these next couple of days I gotta leave on Thursday unfortunately
but I should be back for the tourney.

That date works for me, I'm in.

PS: Spiked shield ban is ridiculous. You might as well ban backstabs and rolling because they're about as unpredictable with ping.

Great that you're both in, Pika and Doom!

Of course anything gets unpredictable with unknown delay, yet IMHO it has the worst effect on spikey (aside from bows probably).
I probably overdid the bans, no real need to ban scraping spear either, yet I don't see a reason to discuss those that much. All of the tournaments I've been in, where no weapons were banned, I've never seen spiked shield or scraping spear in action, and I even havn't seen morion blade for a looong time in tournys.

Just need to verify with the wife that nothing is going on that day and I should be good to go as a participant. Been playing other games for the last month or so but a couple days of casuals should get the rust off.

Going to need someone to delevel my spellsword toon but I've been meaning to have that done anyway.

Great to see more people joining! Even with the usual no-show rate, it looks like this thing will have a proper size! :)

mmg, maybe you can bargain with her... take her out for a nice dinner the night before etc... ;)
seriously tho, if there's any chance you can make it on short-notice, just post again, or show up on PSN! Would be great to have you participate too!

Since there has been a request about the warding rule, I'd like to discuss it with you here.
At this point, I'm thinking either 3 or 4 warding recasts instead of second chance. The balancing is pretty weird tho, since warding is good versus pure physical, but crap versus magic damage... What do you guys think?

Another thing... for deciding the starting time, it would be helpful if everyone could post their timezone or/and preferred starting time. I'll try to find some good compromise, but since players from very different time zones are participating, it won't be possible to get an ideally comfortable starting time for everyone.

For timezones, I'm always using this site: timeanddate.com
Please post a link with your timezone / starting time, so there is no confusion (about abbreviations, daylight savings, etc)...

I'm EDT (New York time). I think something like 6-7pm GMT would be good for a starting time. Afternoon for NA/SA and evening for EU.

3 or 4 Warding recasts seems like a bit much. 2 sounds a little more reasonable to me.

7pm GMT sounds good to me.

Not sure about 2 warding recasts, since you can wait em out somewhat easily... 4 is probably too much though...

Doom, Morri, sorry to interrupt you lovebirds, but any thoughts on starting time and warding? :P

Sent a message to Hag but forgot to post here. I'm good to go for being a participant.

Timezone wise I'm currently CDT (Central Daylight Time) since it's the summer in Texas. 7:00PM GMT (1:00PM CDT) works for me.

As for the Warding rule I'd say 2 or 3 would work. 4 is probably a bit too much.

Would be great if you both could make it, Kiev! But of course I understand if you can't... however, same as I said before, if something changes and you can make it, just show up! :)

Added you to participants list already Silen7. Thanks for the post, and I'm leaning towards 7pm or 8pm GMT myself... gotta check back with our asian guest... :D

Yup thinking 4 is too much now too... still undecided between 2 or 3 though... might decide that when the guy who wants to use warding shows up, but everyone please keep posting your opinion on the matter (and on the time...).

Really looking forward to this, it's looking like it will be a big tourny once again! :)
